Where is Homespun located?

Homespun is located at 5624 East Washington Street on the east side of Indianapolis in the heart of the Historic Irvington neighborhood. The store is situated between Jockamo Upper Crust Pizza and the Legend Classic Cafe on the north side of the street.

When is Homespun open?

Homespun is open from 11am-7pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11am-9pm (8pm during winter months) on Fridays and Saturdays, and noon-6pm on Sundays. We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

What do you mean by Modern Handmade?

Homespun is devoted to contemporary handmade goods; the tagline “Modern Handmade” describes products that are manufactured using traditional crafting techniques but designed for a contemporary audience.

What kind of products do you sell at Homespun?

Homespun represents more than 130 makers and carries a wide range of goods including, but not limited to, bath and body care, jewelry, housewares, home decor, stationery, art, toys, and apparel and accessories for men, women, and children.

How do you find the work you carry?

Homespun’s maker portfolio is a mix of artists we’ve sought out and artists who reach out to us. Our involvement with the national contemporary craft community has put us in contact with hundreds of extraordinary makers, many of whom have referred their friends and acquaintances to Homespun.

Is everything locally made?

No, but approximately half of our vendors live in central Indiana. The rest of the products we carry come directly from vendors from across the U.S., as well as Canada.

How can I sell my work at Homespun?

If you’re interested in consigning at Homespun, please go here to fill out our vendor application for consideration. Please give us at least 3-4 weeks to get back to you with a reply.

Can I bring samples of my work to Homespun to show you in person?

Out of respect for our customers, we ask that vendors not pitch products to us at the store during business hours. Please fill out the submission form found here on our site and submit electronically.

How does selling at Homespun work?

Homespun operates on a consignment model with signed contracts, monthly payouts and sales statements.

How are the prices of the products determined?

Vendors set the retail price of every item sold in the store and receive 50% of the retail price after the sale.

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Due to our consignment model and the handmade nature of the goods we carry, Homespun does not accept returns with the exception of products found to be damaged or faulty prior to purchase. Homespun does not exchange items with the exception of t-shirts; undamaged shirts may be exchanged for different sizes of the same style providing that Homespun has the desired item in stock.

Do you run the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange?

Amanda and Neal founded the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange in 2007 and continue to produce multiple events each year.

How do I become a part of the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange shows?

If you’re interested in becoming a vendor at an INDIEana Handicraft Exchange show, please go here to fill out our vendor application. Applications for the summer show, which falls on the second Saturday of June each year, will be accepted after February 1st, through mid-March.
